Description

This Bizen black carved teacup is the work of Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe and has loved Bizen ware since childhood, finding his life’s joy in crafting works and firing kilns. As Takashi Baba himself remarked, "It was a highly successful kiln firing," this is a luxurious teacup generously coated in rich yellow sesame glaze (kama). This rich glaze creates a synergistic effect with the carved design, where the ridges from the carving add rhythm and flow to the glaze. Each piece has faced the flames head-on, with plenty of yellow glaze flowing into the interior, creating a captivating scene that looks as if it were scooped from gold dust. The carved design is unique to each piece, reflecting Baba's dedicated attention to detail. Paper box
