Description
This is a Bizen sake cup by Go Kaneshige, who established his kiln in Kukui, where he continues his research and ceramic work. In recent years, Kaneshige has been pursuing a bold aesthetic, creating sake cups with a strong contrast between the black ash-covered upper section and the reddish-brown clay color of the lower section. The rugged, intense texture of the ash glaze is striking, and the interior is fired to a deep black; however, the hints of reddish-brown clay peeking through will serve as a lovely accent when in use.
Signed wooden box to be provided later (please note that it will take some time until shipment).
Diameter 6.5cm × 6.4cm × Height 4.8cm Go Kaneshige was born as the second son of Intangible Cultural Property holder Michiaki Kaneshige, and is the grandson of the legendary Living National Treasure, Toyo Kaneshige. Go Kaneshige graduated from the Ashiya College of Arts in 1988. After studying at the Atelier Hikosen Ceramics Research Institute, he returned to Bizen in 1992. He exhibited at the Bizen Young Artists Exhibition in September 1996, and has been actively participating in exhibitions such as the Kaneshige Family Exhibition since May 1999.
