Description
This is a *hi-dasuki* sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto’s new exhibition. Drawing on the sensibilities he has honed by absorbing and reinterpreting the aesthetics of old Bizen ware, he has crafted a piece with a vibrant, energetic form that exudes a sense of free-spirited vitality. True to Morimoto-sensei’s style of challenging the great masterpieces of ancient pottery, the cup possesses a powerful presence, almost as if a full-sized tea bowl had been shrunk into miniature. The distinct, almost fluorescent *hi-dasuki* markings seem to float right off the surface of the clay, creating an incredibly striking effect. Within the weathered, earthy texture lies a burning landscape of color; one can only imagine that if a master tea practitioner from ages past were to see this work, they would surely delight in cherishing it and nurturing its patina over time.

Diameter: 7.4cm x 7.2cm, Height: 5.7cm
