Description
This is a *hi-dasuki* sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto's latest exhibition. Among contemporary Bizen ware, which has seen a revival following periods of prosperity and decline, this series expresses a free world view unconstrained by formality. Applying the sensibilities honed through his rigorous study of classical Bizen ware, he has created a piece with dynamic form that evokes a spirited and liberated character. It is hand-molded and then faceted, giving the somewhat coarse clay a rising texture that is profoundly tasteful. The meticulously selected *hi-dasuki* markings are vibrant and continuous, ensuring that simply gazing at this piece while enjoying a drink is a delight in itself.
