Description
This is a Hidasuki hexagonal sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto's latest exhibition. It is part of a series that expresses the world of tea gatherings, reimagining high-status tea kaiseki utensils in the Bizen style. It recreates in Hidasuki (fire-cord) style the hexagonal sake cup—a form of Ki-Seto pottery considered especially prestigious among sake vessels—traditionally served alongside an "oazuke" (serving) tokkuri, making it a piece born from the highly creative thinking characteristic of a "creative reproduction." The cup has been fired with careful attention to its "front" and internal scenery, resulting in a perfectly balanced aesthetic from every angle. Beyond its stunning appearance, the high affinity of Bizen clay for liquids means it truly proves its worth through use, and as it is cherished over time, the vessel itself continues to evolve, offering endless enjoyment.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 7.7cm × 7.6cm × Height 4.8cm
