Description

This is an Ibe hexagonal sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto's new exhibition. This series expresses the world of *chaji* (tea ceremonies) by arranging high-status utensils used in *chakaiseki* (tea ceremony meals) in the Bizen style. It recreates in the Ibe technique a yellow Seto hexagonal sake cup—a piece with a particularly high standing among sake vessels, traditionally served with a tokkuri sake server—and is a work born from the highly creative conceptualization typical of a "creative replica." The *goma* (ash glaze), fired firmly with a determined front, is deep yellow and flows in thick, viscous drips, possessing a glamorous yet profound character that differs from the rustic charm of everyday tableware. Like the original yellow Seto, the foot is designed with its eventual use in mind, providing a stable base that ensures both balance and the textural evolution that comes with repeated use—a truly masterful touch. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 7.9cm x 7.8cm x Height 5.1cm
