Description

This is a hi-dasuki katakuchi (spouted bowl) from Yoshinobu Morimoto’s new exhibition. Among contemporary Bizen ware, which has seen a revival after periods of prosperity and decline, this series expresses a free world view unconstrained by traditional formality. Drawing on the sensibilities honed through his past input and output of classic Bizen ware, he has created a dynamic form that conveys a free and energetic spirit. After being hand-molded, the piece was faceted, giving it a deeply flavorful texture as if the slightly coarse clay is rising to the surface. The meticulously selected hi-dasuki (fire-cord) markings are unbroken and vivid in color, making it a joy just to gaze upon while enjoying a drink. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 13.6cm × 11.3cm × Height 8.0cm
