Description

This is a Hidasuki sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto’s new exhibition. Among the contemporary Bizen ware that has seen a revival following periods of prosperity and decline, this series expresses a free worldview unbound by formality. Utilizing the sensibilities he has honed while challenging himself with the input and output of ancient Bizen, he has created a form with a sense of dynamism that conveys a free-spirited and lively temperament. The hand-molded shape is accented with chamfering, and the slightly coarse clay gives it a rising, deeply flavorful quality. The carefully selected Hidasuki markings are vivid and continuous, making it a joy to simply gaze at while enjoying a drink. Signed wooden box (Shiho-san)
Diameter 7.8cm × 7.2cm × Height 5.9cm
