Description

This is a new Bizen "Hidasuki" (fire-cord) polka-dot tea cup by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, an inner disciple of the master Sozan Kaneshige. In this piece, the traditional Hidasuki and polka-dot patterns are reversed, creating a mysterious landscape where white spots trail like footprints. The entire surface is covered in what is known as "so-hidasuki" (full-body fire-cord), resulting in an exceptionally smooth texture that is a delight to hold. The interior reveals the profound white clay characteristic of Bizen Hidasuki, which will evolve into a refined, weathered hue with continued use. It comes in a paulownia wood box, making it an ideal gift. Signed wooden box (double-slat lid)
Diameter 8.1cm × 8.0cm × Height 9.0cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who loved pottery, he aspired to pursue the craft. After graduating from high school, he studied under the master Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho from 1989. Following seven years of apprenticeship, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 and successfully produced his first firing the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual exhibitions since. In 1999, his work was selected for the "Northern Confectionery Container Exhibition," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Tea Ceremony Modeling Exhibition" for the first time.
