Description
This is a new Bizen Hidasuki (fire-cord) polka-dot yunomi (teacup) by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young artist and former apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. In this piece, the typical Hidasuki and polka-dot patterns are reversed, creating a mysterious landscape where white spots trail across the surface like footprints. The entire body is covered in Hidasuki, often referred to as "all-over Hidasuki," which gives the piece a remarkably smooth texture that is a pleasure to hold. The interior reveals the deep, authentic white clay of Bizen Hidasuki, which will evolve into a rich, sophisticated hue with continued use. It comes in a paulownan wood box, making it an ideal gift.
