Description

This is a Hidasuki sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto’s new exhibition. Utilizing the sensibilities he has polished through his ongoing efforts to input and output the characteristics of ancient Bizen ware, he has created a piece with a dynamic form that conveys a sense of free-spirited vitality. True to Morimoto-sensei’s style of challenging the masterpieces of antique ceramics, the form is as impactful as a tea bowl condensed into miniature size. The vivid, almost neon-like coloring of the Hidasuki appears to rise from the surface of the clay, creating a truly striking effect. There is a burning landscape set within the withered texture of the clay; if the tea masters of old were to see this work, surely they would have delighted in it, cherished it, and nurtured it over time. With signed paulownia wood box (shiho-zan style)
Diameter 7.4cm x 6.9cm x Height 5.2cm
