Description

This is a Hidasuki sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto's new exhibition. Among the Bizen ware that has seen a revival following eras of prosperity and decline, this series expresses a free worldview unconstrained by formality. Utilizing the sensibilities polished through his attempts to internalize and reinterpret ancient Bizen, he has created a form full of dynamism that conveys a free and spirited character. The surface was chamfered after hand-coiling, giving it a deep, rich texture that makes the somewhat coarse clay seem to rise up. The meticulously selected Hidasuki patterns are vivid and unbroken, making it a delight just to gaze upon while enjoying a drink. Signed wooden box (shiho-san) included
Diameter 7.4cm x 7.3cm x Height 6.1cm
