Description
This Bizen small plate is the work of Takashi Soga, who challenges the beauty of antiquity by recreating the same conditions under which Old Bizen was fired. Rather than a sugary, bright scarlet finish, it features a deeply fired hue that seems to emanate from the very core of the clay. The quality of the clay’s texture is also magnificent, offering a soft tactile sensation that will captivate you from the very first touch. The black *hidasuki* markings and the black kiln-altered edges create a wonderful atmosphere, and as you use and nurture this piece, it will surely develop a profound depth of character, much like an antique Bizen plate.
