Description

This is an Ibe sake cup from Yoshinobu Morimoto's new exhibition. Utilizing the sensibilities he has honed through his ongoing efforts to internalize and express the aesthetics of old Bizen ware, he has created a piece with a dynamic form that conveys a free and spirited character. It features the powerful modeling typical of Morimoto-sensei, who takes on the challenge of masterworks of antique ceramics, resulting in a shape that feels like a miniature tea bowl. The thick, yellowish-brown sesame glaze drips down in a viscous flow, creating a sophisticated aesthetic with striking contrast. Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
Diameter 7.2cm × 7.1cm × Height 5.3cm
