Description

This is a newly fired Bizen sake cup by Junpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige school. Its slightly small, modest form is highly refined; while quiet and understated, the inherent quality of the clay creates a work that is truly moving. The exterior features yellow sesame-like glaze that has melted into a vitreous quality, delighting the eye with tones that appear both green and gold. The interior displays a distinct "hidasuki" (fire-cord) pattern, which is notoriously difficult to achieve in harmony with the sesame glaze, offering a romantic, flame-like appearance that will flicker beautifully when filled with sake.
