Description

This is a Hidasuki (scarlet fire-cord) sake server from Yoshinobu Morimoto's new exhibition. The piece belongs to a series that expresses the world of Chaji (tea ceremony) by arranging high-status utensils used in tea kaiseki in the Bizen style. It is a work born from the highly creative idea of a "creative replica," reimagining iron or lacquer sake servers used in tea kaiseki with a Bizen flair. The craftsmanship of the handle and spout is every bit as elaborate as the originals; the flawlessly shaped handle and spout were perfected through extensive trial and error, carving out a new world unseen in Morimoto's previous works. The Hidasuki markings draped over the toasted, mugwort-colored clay surface not only possess their own beauty but also accentuate the beautiful lines of the piece. Signed wooden box (Shihozan; please allow some time for shipping)
Diameter 16.3cm × 11.8cm × Height 13.0cm
