Description
This is a *hidaski* (fire-cord) small tea bowl from Yoshinobu Morimoto’s new exhibition. Drawing on the sensibilities he has refined through his ongoing input and output study of antique Bizen ware, he has created a form with a sense of dynamism that conveys a free and spirited character. It is hand-coiled and then faceted, giving it a deeply resonant quality that makes the somewhat coarse clay seem to rise to the surface. The striking *hidaski* scenery, created using a special clay, appears to float off the surface as if it were fluorescent. Designed as a versatile small bowl, it is suitable for anything from café au lait or matcha to use as a serving bowl.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san)
Diameter 11.4cm × 11.0cm × Height 8.2cm
