Description
This is a Hidasuki shochu cup by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young ceramic artist and former apprentice to the late master Sozan Kaneshige. It features a wide, bowl-like design that is easy to hold and use. The center is constricted, allowing your fingers to fit perfectly for a comfortable grip. The Hidasuki, fired slowly and carefully in an electric kiln, gives the clay a moist texture that becomes even more delightful to touch the more you use it.

Diameter 9.8cm × Diameter 9.8cm × Height 7.0cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father’s love for pottery, he decided to pursue a career in ceramics. After graduating from high school in 1989, he studied under master Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho Kaneshige to master the craft. Following seven years of training, he built his own climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to strike out on his own, and successfully produced his first firing the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has continued to hold annual exhibitions ever since. In 1999, his work was selected for the "North Country Confectionery Container Exhibition," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Tea Ceremony Modeling Exhibition" for the first time.
