Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup by Jumpei Kaneshige, the eldest son of Kosuke Kaneshige, the leading figure of the Kaneshige school. While this piece belongs to a relatively affordable series of Jumpei Kaneshige’s works, it is a delightful sake cup with many highlights. The front and back feature a soft "nuke" (clear area) as if fire has passed through them, allowing you to fully appreciate the meticulous clay preparation of the Kaneshige school. The soft "kase-goma" (matte ash glaze) has been carefully polished like a gemstone, resulting in a piece that is as pleasant to touch as it is beautiful in its landscape. The firing process has created a charmingly irregular distortion, forming a unique rim.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
