Description
This is a Bizen black liquor vessel by Takashi Baba, an artist born in Imbe who has loved Bizen ware since childhood and finds life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. The clay has been roughly scraped away with a wooden spatula, evoking an atmosphere similar to the chisel marks on a wood carving. The artist's sense of style is fully displayed in the base, where the spiraling design looks like both a tornado and a stone sculpture. The black surface itself has little "goma" (ash glaze) speckling, giving it a chic aesthetic.
