Description

This is "Noah" by Fujita Sho, who has been active since his time at the Bizen Pottery Center following his studies in general art. It is a work that lets the fresh and stylish spirit, characteristic of Fujita, who has studied general art including oil painting since his youth, bloom through his own unique techniques. Inspired by Noah's Ark, the design is primitive like a mural, yet overflowing with a sense of dynamism. The image is brought to life using a reverse-inlay technique: he creates a large wooden board, presses clay into it to raise the lines, and then fills the surrounding area with a different type of clay.
