Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup by Yoshiteru Koriki, a popular young artist who was an apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. It beautifully captures the characteristics of this particular kiln firing, featuring intense scarlet coloring and dramatic ash coverage. Most notably, it features a unique, striated kiln transformation that looks like a hybrid between *kase-goma* (crusty sesame glaze) and ash-covered *yohen*, which is rarely seen. The scarlet color, which graduates from a darker to a lighter tone, will surely develop further with continued use. The rim is thrown quite thinly on the wheel, promising a crisp and pleasant drinking experience.
Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
