Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his skills on the rigorous path of pottery, following in the footsteps of his father, the late Susumu Kaneshige. This piece is crafted using clay that has been refined to an exceptionally fine consistency through a levigation process rarely seen even among the Kaneshige family. While he has previously used clay with a slightly sandier texture, this work features a very fine and smooth surface. The rich, ash-covered kiln transformation is accented by silver circular patterns, evoking the mood of enjoying sake under the moon. Signed wooden box (double-crosspiece)
Diameter 8.1cm × Diameter 8.0cm × Height 3.9cm Tamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University in 2000. In 2004, he entered the world of pottery under his father, Susumu Kaneshige. He held a solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya in 2011.
