Description

This new Bizen sake flask is by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his craft on the rigorous path of pottery as the son of the late Susumu Kaneshige. Unlike works made with refined levigated clay, this piece uses traditional, slightly coarser clay. It is a work that clearly shows how the kiln transformation differs even within the same Kaneshige lineage, and its withered moss-green *kase-goma* (dry sesame-glaze) texture is a signature style instantly recognizable as Tamon's. The front features a beautiful splash of scarlet—a thoughtful touch from Tamon, himself a sake enthusiast—and the subtle *haikaburi* (ash-covered) effect around the waist provides an exquisite accent that will surely capture the heart of any sake lover. Signed wooden box (double-slatted lid)
Rim 5.0cm × Body 8.3cm × Body 8.2cm × Height 16.9cm, Capacity 220cc Tamon Kaneshige was born in Okayama City in 1977. He graduated from the Faculty of Business and Commerce at Keio University in 2000. In 2004, he entered the world of pottery under his father, Susumu Kaneshige. He held his first solo exhibition at Okayama Tenmaya in 2011.
