Description
This is a new Bizen sake cup by Tamon Kaneshige, who continues to hone his craft on the rigorous path of pottery as the son of the late Susumu Kaneshige. This piece is crafted using clay that has been refined to an exceptionally fine consistency through a water-elutriation process, a rarity even within the Kaneshige family. While he had previously utilized clay with a slightly grittier texture, this work features an incredibly fine and smooth surface. In this particular piece, the light dusting of "goma" (ash glaze) further accentuates the smoothness of the texture. The wide foot rim evokes a sense of power reminiscent of his father, Susumu.
