Description
This is the "Hagakure" platinum-glazed glass by Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakizaki. While one is immediately drawn to the avant-garde design brimming with originality, holding the piece reveals the immense passion he pours into expressing the beauty of the raw clay material. To achieve these beautiful curves and edges, he must understand the nature of the clay and commit an extraordinary amount of time and effort to the finishing process; this work was born from a devotion to forging clay with the single-minded focus of a swordsmith. Titled "Hagakure," the piece features a platinum glaze with the voluminous feel of liquid metal, accented by a single streak of crimson glaze like fresh blood, creating a world where stillness and motion transition masterfully, much like a sword fight. The sharp lines of the body fit comfortably in the hand, and the voluminous glaze provides an easy grip, making this a masterpiece that excels not only in design but also in functionality.
