Description

This is a new Bizen sake cup by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who carries on the tradition of the masters Rokuro Nakamura and Makoto Nakamura, creating works of profound character. Reflecting three generations of dedication, the form and the texture of the clay have been thoughtfully refined specifically for the enjoyment of sake. The shaved foot has a deep, undulating quality, reminiscent of his grandfather, Rokuro. Just as sake is made from nothing but rice and water, this cup is crafted solely from earth and fire; their exceptional harmony is sure to make your drinking experience all the more deep and exquisite. While the brilliant scarlet hue on the front of this piece is magnificent, the gentle brown texture of the interior is truly evocative. (*Please note that there is a large stone burst on the rim, which does not affect its use.) Signed wooden box (double-braced)
Diameter 7.8cm × Diameter 7.6cm × Height 5.3cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he honed his pottery skills under his grandfather and father. He fired his first kiln and became independent in 2006.
