Description
This is an Ibe tea bowl by Yuho Kaneshige, the third son of the legendary tea ceramics master Sozan Kaneshige, who enjoys enduring popularity. Created approximately ten years ago, this piece uses mountain clay and features a unique aesthetic similar to *hikidashi-guro* (pulled black) ware. The surface possesses a heavy, dull luster resembling metal, created by applying gold glaze over a black clay body. The bowl is accented with blue-gray *goma* (ash glaze) reminiscent of Sue pottery, representing a style centered on "black" that differs from traditional Bizen ware. While the firing is distinctive, the form itself is true to the fundamentals; it is slightly small and fits perfectly in the palm of the hand, embodying the signature approach of Yuho Kaneshige, who expresses "beauty" through the flow of the tea ceremony. (Please note that there is a spot where the *goma* glaze has flaked off, as shown in photo 7.)
Signed wooden box (shiho-san style)
