Description
This is the "Red Carbonized Hagakure" sake cup by Toru Ichikawa, who made a striking debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. While one is immediately drawn to the overflowing originality of its avant-garde design, holding it in your hands reveals the immense passion poured into expressing the beauty of the clay itself. Creating these beautiful curves and sharp edges requires a profound understanding of the clay's nature, combined with a staggering amount of time and meticulous effort; it is a work born from forging the clay with single-minded devotion, much like a master swordsmith. Titled "Red Carbonized Hagakure," this piece features sections with a silvery sheen, which, combined with a form reminiscent of a forged iron ingot, gives it an atmosphere akin to tamahagane steel. The brilliant red glaze stands out magnificently against this backdrop, creating a unique and singular worldview.
