Description
This amber-glazed glass was created by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create work that suits modern life. The "best of both worlds" approach that Nakahara emphasizes is incorporated into this piece: the exterior features an amber glaze to enhance durability and aesthetic beauty, while the interior uses Bizen *hidasuki* (fire-cord) techniques for functional comfort and evolving character. By layering straw-ash glaze over the amber glaze, he has achieved a unique texture that serves as a modern arrangement of the *Madara Karatsu* style. To further bring out the profound elegance of the straw-ash glaze, the carved patterns on the surface of the vessel are twisted, enhancing the perfection of the landscape.
