Description
This is a brand new Ibede teacup, fresh from the kiln of Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes his work using the daily inspirations he gathers while staying close to the lives of people that have continued in an unbroken line, all while maturing alongside the Bizen ware tradition. Designed to suit the Ibede style, it features a highly playful form, with the wheel marks left only on the lower body and stylish spatula carving that looks wonderful. He is also meticulous about the Ibede slip, which does not produce a flat black, but rather a gradation from brownish-red to black created by variations in the thickness of the slip. The vivid mustard-colored sesame glaze also suits the Ibede surface perfectly.
