Description

This is a new Bizen shochu bottle by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, an apprentice of the master Sozan Kaneshige. It is his latest work, removed from the kiln in the spring of 2016, and features a beautiful "goma" (sesame) glaze indicative of a highly successful firing. The soft, bright brown surface produced by the high-quality clay is nothing short of magnificent, and storing water or shochu in it will mellow and improve the flavor. Its understated bottle shape also makes it suitable for use as a flower vase. Paper box
Diameter 10.4cm × Diameter 10.3cm × Height 22.7cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his father, who loved ceramics, he aspired to become a potter. After graduating from high school in 1989, he apprenticed under the master Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho to learn the craft. After seven years of training, he built a climbing kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, in 1996 to strike out on his own, and successfully completed his first firing the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held annual solo exhibitions ever since. In 1999, he was selected for the "Kitano Kashi-ki" (Tea Sweets Vessel) Exhibition, and in 2002, he was selected for the "Chanoyu no Zokei" (Forms of Tea) Exhibition for the first time.
