Description

This is a newly kiln-fired *tobiguchi* (kite-beak) small jar by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who continues to evolve in his handling of clay, firing, and form. Labeled as a "small jar," it is designed to be versatile: it functions as a *katakuchi* sake server, a vessel for pickling due to its jar-like shape, or even as a small flower vase. While downsized from the *tobiguchi* small jars of ancient Bizen, it incorporates various improvements; for instance, when used as a sake server, the rim is thinned and extended for a clean, sharp pour. True to Morimoto's dedication to clay and firing techniques, the *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings are outstanding, with the deep, striking contrast of the fire-cord patterns emerging against the pale bluish body, resulting in a truly magnificent finish.
