Description
This is a new Bizen ware yunomi (teacup) with gold accents by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe, has loved Bizen ware since childhood, and finds his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. This yunomi is part of the gold accent series he took on in this latest firing; the surface is adorned with *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings that shine as if they were metal. The base clay, treated with a slip, has a matte black finish, and the striking *hidasuki* running across this deeply dark canvas creates a magnificent landscape. The brilliant *hidasuki* is also well-defined on the interior, allowing the cup to be used as a shochu glass to take full advantage of its aesthetic. (*Please note: There is a small spot of kiln-adhesion on the foot, but this does not affect its use.)
