Description
This is a new Bizen gold-painted carved tea cup by Takashi Baba, who was born in Imbe, has loved Bizen ware since childhood, and finds his life's joy in creating works and firing kilns. This tea cup is part of the gold-painted series that he challenged himself with in this kiln firing; the *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings, which shine like metal, decorate the surface of the vessel. The fine carvings made with a spatula to accentuate the brilliance of the gold, along with the *mitsugeshi-wari* (three-legged) foot, showcase the challenging craftsmanship characteristic of Baba-sensei. Although it is a tea cup, its near-spherical shape makes it well-suited for use as a *shochu* cup or a cafe au lait bowl.
