Description

This is a new Bizen beer mug by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, a former apprentice to the master Sozan Kaneshige. This latest piece was fired in the spring of 2016, and the kiln firing was such a great success that the mug displays a magnificent scarlet hue. The scarlet color, which becomes even more beautiful when both the interior and exterior are wetted, fully conveys the charm of Bizen sake ware—a vessel that is a joy both to use and to nurture. The surface, crafted from high-quality "ta-tsuchi" (rice paddy clay), features incredibly fine textures that create a finer beer foam, making your drink taste even better. Cooling the mug before use will further enhance its appearance and provide a wonderful drinking experience. Paper box
Diameter 7.9cm × 7.1cm × Height 12.8cm Yoshiteru Koriki was born in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture. Influenced by his pottery-loving father, he pursued the path of ceramics and, after graduating from high school, began studying under the master Sozan Kaneshige and his son Yuho in 1989. After seven years of training, he built an anagama kiln in Shizutani, Bizen City, to go independent in 1996, and successfully held his first kiln firing the following year. He held his first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 2000 and has held solo exhibitions every year since. In 1999, his work was selected for the "Exhibition of Northern Confectionery Vessels You Would Like to Use," and in 2002, he was selected for the "Chanoyu Plastic Arts Exhibition" for the first time.
