Description
This is the new "R432 Sake Cup - Black" by Toru Ichikawa, who made a stunning debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. While one is immediately drawn to the avant-garde design, overflowing with originality, picking it up reveals the immense passion he pours into expressing the beauty of the clay as a material. Achieving such beautiful curves and sharp edges requires an incredible amount of time and effort spent on finishing, based on a deep understanding of the clay's properties; this is a work born from single-mindedly forging the earth, much like a master swordsmith. The latest in the R432 series, inspired by lusterware, it features a body that has become like tamahagane steel through the emergence of silver carbide, coated in a mysterious black glaze reminiscent of the dark universe. The rough, rock-like texture around the waist emits a dull glow due to the effect of the silver carbide, making it a piece where not only the glaze but even the clay body itself is beautiful.
