Description

This is a new Oribe-Hi glass, freshly fired from the kiln by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create items that suit modern life. This Oribe-Hi work is designed to leverage both the stain resistance and ease of use provided by the Oribe glaze, and the unique flavor and evolving character that come from Bizen clay. Based in the heart of Osaka, Nakahara incorporates hints of artificial objects such as polyhedra into his work; this piece features a beautiful polyhedral form and a stylish, innovative foot. The interior features a *hidasuki* (fire-cord) pattern, intended to provide the Bizen-ware effect of enhancing the flavor of beverages and improving with use, demonstrating a high level of design skill that takes the best of both Oribe and Bizen styles.
