Description

This is the latest Bizen kiln-altered triangular tokkuri (sake bottle), fresh from the kiln by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who creates deeply flavorful works following in the footsteps of the master sake vessel makers, Rokuro Nakamura and Shin Nakamura. Drawing on the ceramic techniques inherited from his grandfather and father—both renowned for their sake vessels—he masterfully expresses ease of use, the authentic charm of earthy stoneware, and the ability to enhance the flavor of sake. Featuring the Nakamura family's traditional kiln-altered triangular scenery, the piece displays a strong, kiln-fired effect on the lower section, transitioning to a soft, matte "kase-goma" (ash glaze) texture near the rim. The deep reddish clay body, a hallmark of the Nakamura family, is visible throughout the entire piece, allowing you to enjoy the nuances of the earth as you use it. The triangular shape makes it easy to hold, and its manageable size makes it a highly practical tokkuri. (The kiln-altered effect on the base may cause slight instability, but it will become more stable once filled with sake.) Signed wooden box (double-slat lid)
Rim 4.2cm × Body diameter 9.2cm × Body diameter 9.1cm × Height 12.6cm; Capacity approx. 320cc Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Shin Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to hone his ceramic skills. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
