Description

This Bizen-ware dish is the work of Shusaku Taku, an artist who shapes his creations by fermenting the emotions of daily life, drawing inspiration from Bizen pottery that has matured alongside the continuous activities of people throughout history. Reflecting Taku-sensei’s own commitment to cuisine, this small, easy-to-use dish perfectly balances a beautiful "keshiki" (scenery/aesthetic effect) with practicality. The slightly raised rim prevents spills while giving the piece a refined, sharp impression. Fine, sophisticated "goma" (sesame ash glaze) adorns the outer perimeter, while the interior is colored by a deep, dark "hi-dasuki" (fire-cord) pattern reminiscent of a dragon in an ink wash painting. These variations add definition when plating food, and as the food is consumed, the "scenery" of the piece becomes more prominent, resulting in a vessel that is both delightful to use and a pleasure to incorporate into daily life.
