Description
This is a new Ibe-te hexagonal sake cup by Yoshinobu Morimoto, an artist with an exceptional aesthetic sense who is constantly evolving in his approach to clay, firing, and craftsmanship. Part of a series expressing the world of the tea ceremony, this piece reimagines high-status implements used in *cha-kaiseki* in the Bizen style. It is a "creative reproduction," born from highly imaginative thinking, that recreates the "Kizeto (Yellow Seto) hexagonal sake cup"—a vessel of particular prestige among sake wares—in the Ibe-te style. The *kigoma* (yellow sesame glaze), fired firmly with a clearly defined front, is remarkably rich and impressive, while the refined artistry, crafted to suit the tastes of tea practitioners, possesses a world that is both flamboyant and profound. The tone of the Ibe-te surface is also brilliantly clear, featuring a deep, multi-layered hue that contains various colors like an iron glaze, rather than a single shade of black.
