Description

This is "Kagutsuchi - Teru," a new gold and platinum glazed sake cup fresh from the kiln by Toru Ichikawa, who made a brilliant debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. For this piece, the artist has further evolved the intense *kairagi* (crackle glaze) of his "Kagutsuchi" series, named after Hinokagu-tsuchi-no-kami, the god of fire in Japanese mythology. He expresses a remarkably delicate world by combining, like a patchwork, a fine-grained glaze known as "Kagutsuchi Teru" with a smooth, voluminous glaze. Departing from the profound world of fire seen in his previous Kagutsuchi series, this work adopts a more avant-garde and artistic expression. The fleeting, powdery snow-like Kagutsuchi white glaze clashes with silver accents that seem to wash over it like surging waves, creating a unique landscape. The white glaze is dotted with fine gold accents, and the interplay between the white glaze and silver that spans both the interior and exterior offers a captivating view that one can admire endlessly. Signed paulownia box to be provided at a later date (please allow some time for delivery)
