Description

This Bizen sake cup is a brand-new piece, fresh from the kiln by Kazuki Nakamura, a potter who creates deeply evocative works that follow in the footsteps of the master sake-ware potters, Rokuro and Shin Nakamura. It faithfully carries on the flat sake cup style unique to the Nakamura family, which is popular among sake enthusiasts. Fired in a location exposed to intense flames, it bears a bold kiln transformation that risked breakage. The interior features a striking scarlet "nuke" (uncovered area) that looks as if the sun has been cast into it, providing a wonderful highlight to enjoy while drinking. (Please note that there is some flaking on the bottom left of the fourth photo and the center of the seventh photo, which is due to the intense firing process.) Signed wooden box to follow (please allow some time for shipping).
Diameter 8.6cm x Diameter 8.4cm x Height 3.7cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Shin Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he honed his ceramic skills under his grandfather and father. He became independent after his first kiln firing in 2006.
