Description
This is a small Bizen tokkuri (sake bottle) by the popular young artist Yoshiteru Koriki, who was an inner disciple of the late master Sozan Kaneshige. This latest piece, fired in January 2017, is an excellent work featuring a perfect balance between the scarlet hidasuki and the matte sesame glaze (kase-goma) achieved through exquisite firing. The fine kase-goma, integrated with the clay body, appears as a bright, brownish hue that seems to reveal the color of the clay beneath, combining with the soft texture of the high-quality clay to create a surface that is pleasant to the touch. The vivid, persimmon-like red "nuke" (uncovered area) is colorful yet elegant, and it will surely develop an indescribable patina as it absorbs sake over time. Labeled as a small tokkuri, this piece has a total capacity of just over 270ml (1.5 go), making it a compact and easy-to-use vessel.
