Description
This is a Bizen sake flask, the debut work of Hiroshi Goseki, who was born in Chiba Prefecture and became captivated by Bizen ware, leading him to apprentice under Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki. This piece was created and fired at Jun Isezaki's studio during his apprenticeship. It features a coarse, textural "mogusa" clay with a "men-hidasuki" (surface fire-cord) pattern that evokes the image of dancing flames. While it possesses the simple form of an "imo-tokkuri" (potato-shaped flask), its silhouette and the crafting of the rim embody the refined sharpness characteristic of the Isezaki school.
