Description
This is a new Bizen beer tumbler by Koichiro Isezaki, who was born as the eldest son of Living National Treasure Jun Isezaki and who is breathing new life into the world of Bizen ware with his extraordinary sense of style and skillful sculpting. The wheel-thrown form has been pulled as thinly as possible, resulting in a more sophisticated and sharper overall silhouette, combined with the improved usability that comes from such delicate craftsmanship, making for a stylish and convenient beer tumbler. The piece is fired slowly in an anagama kiln using a somewhat coarse, sandy clay, resulting in a crimson coloration reminiscent of ripe apple skin, accented by the amber-colored kiln effects and warm, golden-white surfaces characteristic of the anagama kiln, creating a landscape that is both beautiful and refined. While it features no added ornamentation, it possesses a highly sophisticated atmosphere that speaks to Koichiro's excellent artistic sense. Simple and versatile, it comes in a paulownia wood box, making it an ideal gift.
Signed paulownia box (with shihosan lid)
