Description

This is a freshly kiln-fired new glass piece, "Un été - HANABI," by Toru Ichikawa, who made a striking debut after studying under Ryuichi Kakurezaki. It is a work of exceptional originality that perfectly captures Ichikawa-sensei’s style of shaping his boundless ideas through clay, the ultimate material. This latest piece was created between late July and August. The title "Un été" is French for "summer." The name continues with "HANABI" (fireworks), as Ichikawa-sensei developed a special glaze inspired by the fireworks he witnessed in Okayama. Based on a unique fluorescent-like glaze that defies definition as either yellow or green, the work features splashes of red glaze that depict the trails of fireworks. The platinum luster base has also evolved into a texture reminiscent of lunar craters, reflecting the challenging spirit of an artist who is constantly exploring new forms of beauty. Signed wooden box to be provided at a later date (please allow some time for shipping)
Diameter 7.2cm x Diameter 7.1cm x Height 11.2cm Toru Ichikawa was born in Tokyo. He began his apprenticeship under Ryuichi Kakurezaki in June 2011 and became an independent artist in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, in January 2015.
