Description
This is an Orihi glass piece by Koji Nakahara, who studied under Fumio Kawabata and aims to create works that suit contemporary life. The "Orihi" (Oribe-Hi) style combines the stain resistance and ease of use provided by the Oribe glaze with the flavor-enhancing properties and aesthetic evolution of Bizen clay. Nakahara, who crafts his Bizen ware in the heart of Osaka, draws inspiration from artificial objects such as polyhedrons; this piece features a wonderful polyhedral form and a stylish, innovative foot. The interior features a *hidaski* (fire-cord) pattern, intended to provide the Bizen-characteristic flavor-enhancing effect and a pleasant tactile experience, demonstrating a sophisticated design that successfully captures the best of both Oribe and Bizen styles.
