Description

This is an Ibe-sake cup by Kosuke Yashiro, who spent his formative years training with the dream of working in Bizen ware in the town of Ibe, and finally realized his long-held goal of building his own kiln there to make his debut. It is a quintessential piece of Bizen ware that reflects Yashiro's dedication to his lifelong craft, inspired by the works of the many potters who were born, raised, and passed away in Ibe. With a black natural ash glaze as a base, it features shades of bluish and golden sesame glaze, creating a finish reminiscent of the firing style of Toshu Yamamoto. Furthermore, the metallic sheen produced by reduction firing works exceptionally well; the gold-tinged *hidasuki* (fire-cord) markings inside the cup have taken on a mysterious hue, as if coated in platinum. Signed wooden box (double-slat) included
Diameter 8.8cm × Diameter 8.5cm × Height 2.7cm Kosuke Yashiro was born in Sapporo, Hokkaido in 1979. Around 2000, he began his training under various kilns and artists in Ibe, Bizen City. He built his own kiln in Ibe and became an independent artist in September 2016.
