Description

A new Bizen sake cup by Kazuki Nakamura, an artist who creates works of profound depth, inheriting the lineage of the master sake vessel makers Rokuro and Makoto Nakamura. While following in the footsteps of these masters, this sake cup is distinctly Kazuki’s own, infusing his style with a unique flair that sets him apart from his father and grandfather. It is a deeply evocative piece that successfully inherits the charm of the unique flat sake cups of the Nakamura family, which are highly popular among sake enthusiasts. The combination of the rich scarlet color that seems to emanate from the very core of the Nakamura family's clay and the deeply flavorful gray kiln-transmutation is truly the golden standard for Bizen sake vessels—a piece that is a delight to behold, use, and nurture. While the interior features a well-fired, firm clay texture, pouring sake into it reveals various hidden hues, creating a truly beautiful reflection. Signed wooden box (double-slatted lid)
Diameter 9.3cm x Diameter 9.0cm x Height 3.4cm Kazuki Nakamura was born in 1980 as the eldest son of Makoto Nakamura. After graduating from the Faculty of Letters at Okayama University in 2003, he studied under his grandfather and father to hone his pottery skills. He fired his first kiln and became an independent artist in 2006.
